(POEM) I'M A CHILD OF CIRCUMSTANCES by YEMI ADEWUYI

History speaks and reveals, I was from the East
I've learnt from my Ancestors that, I'M More than a least
I'm strong,wise and can face any Heat
But now, it seems, i can't join the List...

'Acephalous' was tagged as my pre-colonial system
They never knew the world will still come to sing my Anthem
They tHOUGht my Democracy and accuracy
was nothing but empty and CRAZY,what a pity?
Now they wants my democracy
But they can't quits their Autocracy..

My age grades were hardworking, prudent and independent
Now, Our youths are lazy, selfish and always a suspect


The coming of the colonial masters
was more than a masquerades matters
I Foreseen things falling aparts
The colonialists were strong, so they break us aparts
They appoint and select their warrant chiefs
I knew inside of me, they were nothing but thieves

OH, That leads to the ABA woman riot of 1929
where my mothers and daughters were more than NINE(9)
they were tortured, killed and was taken to the NILE
I was concern with their riffle, so accepted their KNIFE

I became a protectorate, i don't chase
i don't race, that was why i could not be replaced
I Was never underrated, i was overrated

Not until, i produced a mere Easterner( Anthony Enahoro)
Who propounded the self government of 1957
To this cause, agitators were more than seven
We were captured, badly tortured and were killed
I knew some were caught while climbing the Trees
What a KANO RIOT OF 1953'

My companions ( Northerners)
knew i was not the cause
Our coalition became stronger
Our conjunction became Greater
we, then share the same Face
we bear the same Name
And we have the same Sake
I Produced the the ceremonial president
They produced the parliamentary president(prime minister).
We then live in peace and harmony....

Now,January 15, was the day.
How,1966, was the year
it was a coup by blood
oh NO, it was by my beloved blood
He HAD killed their special ones
But they never believed, he wasn't the only one
They thought, he wants to be the Special one..........
